Quick Release for Handle?

Has anyone come up with a quick release for a Concept2 Handle?
I've been trying to find a carabiner or similar to go between the u-bolt on the handle and the chain end.
It looks like the wire diameter needs to be about .25 inch or smaller, but all the items I've checked this size do not have a large enough arch to work with the chain end.
Things I've found with a large enough arch have too big of a wire diameter to fit through the chain end.
I did have a carabiner from a sunscreen container that fit, but it was very cheap aluminum with not nearly enough strength.

Why would you want to do that? I can think of several jury rig solutions, but the question begs an answer.

I have both the wooden and plastic handles.
Have done most of my rowing on the wooden one and still adapting to the new.
I also have a couple of other training ideas for my erg.

You could use a master link for an N25 chain. Not exactly "Quick" but it would take about 30 seconds.

D.I.D make one for the original Model C N25 DID chain but from memory the chain width is slightly different on the newer chain on the Model D and your not able to assemble it.

OK, so here's one idea for a jury rig. Get some S hooks at your local hardware store. They come in a variety of sizes, pick the right one. You can bend one side of the S around the U-bolt on the handle (to make it "permanent") and then just slip the other end of the S onto the chain where the current handle U-bolt goes. Have fun!
