I recently hooked a PM3 up to my old Model B and was playing around with drag factor. With the chain on the 15T cog and the damper fully closed, drag was measuring at 185. I tried changing to the 13T cog with the damper still closed, but drag stayed about the same, or even dropped a little to 182. Does that seem right?

When I check the C2 Damper Comparison Chart, it seems to indicate that a Model B on 15T with the damper closed should be roughly comparable to a Model C/D with the damper between 3 and 4, which I would expect to have a drag factor somewhere between 130 and 150.

I've ordered a wind damper ring from C2, so I'm hoping that will bring the drag factor down into the 130 to 150 range. If that doesn't work though, any other suggestions? Does 185 seem abnormally high? If so, does that indicate anything that may need maintenance? Or is high drag just a result of the heavy flywheel?

Changing the model B damper has a relatively small effect because the cage is completely open. I covered the
side and perimeter of the model B cage with roofing paper and zip ties, and later with a cut up truck tire innertube. <
Doing this will bring the drag factors into a reasonable range. Mine would go down to 70, and as high as I wanted it to be.
