I have been rowing for years but last summer I developed a skin reaction to chemicals used in rubber manufacturing including the handle on the C2. Does anyone know of a handle replacement that doesn't have the rubber coating? I've tried wrapping the handle in tape but I'm still developing fissures on my fingers and skin sloughing off making it difficult to row. Any help would be appreciated.

You could try gloves. Or if you can find a bike handlebar or tennis racket tape or rowing grip that you are not allergic to you can remove the stock rubber grip by cutting it off and wrapping the handle with the tape or installing the grip.

I used to reverse wrap the Rowerg handle with thin nylon socks and gorilla
or duct tape, which eliminated blisters and greatly improved the grip of the handle.

I would say your highly allergic to exercise.

Pickup a nice cool beer instead, or preferably two, one in each hand and grip that cold glass. Consume the contents of both bottles.

Repeat daily for a month or until the symptoms disappear.

Thank you for your responses. I'll be calling C2 and I just ordered cork handlebar tape. I've tried cotton gloves which didn't seem to provide enough barrier and lifting and rowing gloves which also contained chemicals I react to. I think the cork tape will be great improvement.

You could try the older style Model C handle which is wood with foam covering.

These are much easier on the hands. The old machine at my gym has the old handle-no blisters. My newer model at home has the new rubber handle-blisters!

On a whim I tried using some of the plastic wrap that came in the packing, ( I was able to get mine after 6 weeks on the waiting list) and it has worked well so far.
