Concept 2 Dyno Force monitor repair
Hello,
It looks like I have started to get a number of requests to repair what is essentially a "Special Version" of a PM2+, the Force monitor for the Concept 2 Dyno's from the USA.
Just some information here for anyone using Google that comes across this, you can join this Forum and > "Contact" me via a PM directly for my details and assistance in repairing one of these. The total cost is about what you would pay for a new PM5 by the time you factor in the freight both ways.
I can perform any board repair at the current time, however it should be noted that the glass LCD display, specific to the Force version is now well and truly obsolete and no longer available if you break it.
Cheers,
Carl Watts.

Re: Concept 2 Dyno Force monitor repair
New to this forum, so not yet sure how to PM. Have a Dyno monitor that is not working, and would like advice on how to resuscitate. Not electronically inclined, but would be willing to ship/return and compensate for time+effort (I'm in the US). If you know how to PM me as I await that privilege, I'd appreciate a response.

Hello Carl,
I have a Dyno force performance monitor that has stopped working. I noticed that the battery posts are slightly corroded and i cleaned them. Still won't turn on. Are you still performing repairs on the force monitor?
Best,
Bob

Re: Concept 2 Dyno Force monitor repair
G'Day Carl - would you mind dropping me a PM with your contact details - I can't send PMs on the site having just signed up but assume I can receive them? I've got a Force monitor requiring a repair.
Cheers.

Re: Concept 2 Dyno Force monitor repair
Hi Carl,
Haven't posted here in many years so PM doesn't appear to work so this response (fingers crossed) may enable me to. But our dyno monitor works but appears to be adding the scores (and they're a bit high!). Is this something we can calibrate or would I be able to send to you?
Thanks
Chris

Hello Carl. I am needing repair on my DYNO Force monitor. Because I am new, it isn't letting me send you a pm.

Hi Carl,
I have a Dyno Trainer but the Force monitor seems to have stopped working. Concept 2 said you might be able to help?
Many thanks,
Jonny

Re: Concept 2 Dyno Force monitor repair
Hi Carl
It appears you are the only person on this planet that can assist with the repair of a Concept 2 Dyno monitor. Unlike the previous post, someone had inserted Duracell batteries that have leaked. I removed the offending battery's and to my horror found they had leaked onto the front of the pcb damaging the contacts for the carbon on/off and timer buttons. I cleaned them up but unfortunately although with new batteries inserted I could not get any sense from the unit, although some digits did illuminate. Perhaps the only good news is the LCD screen appears to be intact.
I appreciate you are across the globe but do you think you could repair it and if so what sort of costs are we talkin about.
Kind regards
Alan

This sounds like an opening for the Open Rowing Monitor project!
