Wanted PM3...Australia

Post by redchillithai » August 4th, 2018, 12:20 pm

Hello All,

My PM3 from my early model D is dead & I'm not keen on the $250+ AUD for a PM5. If anyone has a spare PM collecting dust please let me know & we'll see if we can work something out. I live in Australia.

Thanks

Buy a new PM5.

The PM3's made before mid 2007 are no longer worth buying. The newer version is faster and more reliable.

Your better off trying to get a PM4 made after mid 2007, the wireless ANT+ heartrate on these is excellent.

Concept 2 stuff is cheap in Australia compared to here, a new PM5 is $350.

Hey Carl,

Yeah I read pre 2008 are to be avoided, I also see Australia prices seem to be the best for new. I had the rower 1 week when the PM3 died... Victim of historical battery leak it would seem, so I'm not keen to shell out another $265 on a PM5 straight after purchasing the rower.

Upgraded firmware when I got it & it worked a couple of times now dead. Have a background in electronics, so I did the basics.... Cleaned board in isopropyl, soldered any dry joints but no joy. Just looking for a cheap replacement to get started.

The Motorola Dragonball micro on the early version went obsolete years and years ago now.

Just not worth repairing, many have corrosion on the board and the PCB tracks are very fine and they put test points in the middle of tracks which attracts any liquid and they corrode through with cracks so fine you need a magnifying glass to see them.

Unless its an obvious fault move on. If you have a DC supply and multimeter on mA you can check the current draw to see if it doing anything.

Hey Carl,

Used to do multi layer miniature repairs on avionics equipment years back, but those days along with the specialised equip required are long gone. My PM3 is long dead. Is there a classifieds on this forum or is this request in the right spot?

There's no classifieds on here. This spot will do.

Just replaced the PM3 with the PM5

The original PM3 is from 2004 and still working. Replaced it for better connection via wireless to the phone.

Serial 200017623
