Looking for a Concept 2 Model D PM5
Looking for a Concept 2 Model D PM5
Hello Y'all...
I am new here and am looking for a Concept 2 Model D with PM5 for my daughter as she just finished her first year of rowing. This is for her (and my wife) to train at home; please message me if you are several hours from Columbus or that you are willing to ship.
Thanks,
Ben

Couple "buckeyes" on here know that's Columbus OH. Folks from Columbus GA likely will not.

Even if you want to buy used, could be worth your time to check out the new price at Rogue Fitness--sales hq right there in C-town. Is your daughter active with Westerville Rowing?

Yes, she is active though it is her first year.

I understand that Rogue Fitness has an excellent reputation, but if you're thinking of purchasing a new Model D, a better choice might be to order it directly from the manufacturer. C2 provides outstanding support and if there are any problems, it's very easy to deal with them directly. Another small benefit is that you will be saving a little money. The cost of a Model D shipped directly from Morrisville, Vermont is $900.00 with another $45.00 added for shipping, a total of $945.00. If you buy the same machine in Columbus at the same price, I'm sure tax will be added. I think it's around 7.5%. That would make the total a little over $20.00 more if you pick it up and take it home. And if Rogue Fitness adds a charge for local delivery, the total could be quite a bit higher.jackarabit wrote:Even if you want to buy used, could be worth your time to check out the new price at Rogue Fitness--sales hq right there in C-town.
Of course, you can always show the local dealer the C2 price of $945.00, tell them you will pay no more, and ask them to meet it. If the price you show them is legitimate (and Concept 2's certainly is), they very well may accept your offer. It's worth a try.
Whatever you decide to do, your daughter will be getting the best rowing machine around.

Thank you. We are considering new but would like to save a little bit on a nice used one. We missed on two great deals in and around Ohio thus past week.
Re: Looking for a Concept 2 Model D PM5
I looked for a used one here in New England for quite awhile, and ultimately bought new from C2. I wanted a D with PM5, and as it’s the gold standard now, it commands a premium price on the used market (about $800-850 here). Plus any used savings didn’t justify the doubt in my mind about how it’d been treated by prior owner(s). Maybe different in OH.
If you really want to save, you might consider a model C or a D with an older computer. Same quality, same workout.
The C2 holds its value very, very well if you ever decide to sell it. Another vote to buy new.

I think some of the satellite races for the CRASH-Bs sell the ergs after the races. There a some of those races coming up relatively near you in the next month. You might check them.Buckeye1 wrote:Thank you. We are considering new but would like to save a little bit on a nice used one. We missed on two great deals in and around Ohio thus past week.

I believe Cincinnati Indoor Rowing Championship was an officical WIRC satellite race before WIRC moved to Arlington VA this yr. Worth checking however also check whether or not the race ergs are available to the genpop or only to registered competitors?. Check out Regatta Central on the web for other possibilities.Buckeye1 wrote:Thank you, DavidA. I am new to this, so how do I find these "satellite races"?
