Looking for a PM3 or 5

Post by mdurbahn » April 13th, 2017, 1:04 pm

Hi, I have a PM2 and would like to try and source a used PM3 or PM5 to update my rower for use with the row pro app. Anyone have one lying around that would save money over buying new? I am in US. Thanks! Matt

A new PM5 is only $180.

Your best bet is eBay or Craigslist to find someone who's just upgraded their PM3/PM4 to a PM5.

I just upgraded my Model D with a PM3 to a PM5 and will be selling the excellent condition PM3. If you're interested, let me know. I was going to post it to eBay, but am interested in selling here to avoid that hassle. Photos and video of the unit in action. Located in Chicago area and am willing to ship.

Message me here.

A post 2007 model of the PM3 is a good monitor, I wouldn't buy the earlier version of it now.

The difference in Firmware versions tells you how old it is.

If its an old version it will have either V61, V82, V90, V101, V105 or V108 as the firmware version. The later versions made after 2007,the firmware starts with a "3".

When I was erg shopping, model Ds & Es were being shipped with PM5s, so that's what I got. I think some shippers still had them with PM4s, but I ordered direct from C2 and got a PM5-equipped Model D. Turns out to be a very good thing, for me, at my age. My vision isn't what it used to be and the backlight feature of the PM5 is super nice (for me). I can very, very easily see all the numbers displayed without using glasses, contact lenses or anything else. I didn't know how important that would be to me, but that feature alone is worth a couple hundred dollars, at least, to me.

Unfortunately the PM5 has too many issues for me. The last of the PM4's made operate flawlessly with RowPro and the LogCard is still all you need. It also connects to the Garmin ANT+ belts with no issues other than now and again "Forgetting" your belt but it just takes seconds to reconnect and remember it again. Got two 100W cool white LED downlights fitted in the room so no backlight required but you need to wear sunglasses instead.

Balderdash and poppycock.
The PM5 with V22 firmware is a good stable platform.
