PM5 "Restore Data" functionality problem
PM5 "Restore Data" functionality problem
Hi guys,
I have accidentally deleted tons of rowing data from my Concept2 Model D PM5. I have attempted to recover it using the backup on my PC but alas I get an error message "PM5 backup folder has incorrect number of backup files". The erased data has never been synchronised with the online log...
Please help me out with an advise on how I can overcome that issue.
Cheers!

You're probably going to lose everything.
Send an email to rowing@concept2.com and ask if they can help.

Hi Citroen,
Thanks for the quick reply! Did you have a similar issue?

Re: PM5 "Restore Data" functionality problem
I had a bunch of data on a USB stick that was OK in the PM5 but the utility wouldn't touch it. I've ended up reformatting the stick.

yep, that doesn't sound promissing...
in the meanwhile I received an acknowledgement of my query by C2 - will have to wait until Tuesday-Wednsday to their reply...

I'm actually curious how you were able to delete data from your PM, since I've not had luck doing so. What did you do to delete it?

Do a factory reset. Or leave the batteries out for long enough that the supercap completely discharges.jag wrote:I'm actually curious how you were able to delete data from your PM, since I've not had luck doing so. What did you do to delete it?

Actually it was quite simple / stupit on my behalf / I connected my laptop to the concept2 PM5 in my gym and did a back up of the data to my laptop (so I can transfer my results later to my online log) and then a message popped up about errors in the data on the machine - the next thing I saw on screen was that is was erasing the data!! at that point I intervened by cancelling the operation. When I looked into the PM5 the history (this and last year) was gone entirely. When I tried restoring it i faced that recovery issue i started this post about...

Re: PM5 "Restore Data" functionality problem
Guys,
the issue has now been resolved. I received a reply from Concept2 software developper. He explained that this error message appears when recovery tool doesn't see the back up folder. While it hasn't explained my issue exactely - since i was directed to the correct "logbook" folder by default, it did push me to direct the tool manually via "browse" button and then select “PM5Memory_YYYYMMDD-HHMMSS” folder. After that recovery was a seamless process! Now it feels like a no brianer to me, but I do believe that Concept2 development team can make an extra effort regarding that last missing step.
Thanks everyone for your support!

Re: PM5 "Restore Data" functionality problem
Sort of similar story, I have been trying to set up Strava, but it only logs new workouts, so...I manually transferred 5 workouts via a USB card & the Concept Utility to the logbook, and they now show up on Strava, all good. Then I tried to transfer all the rest of the PM5 entries via the Utility and a USB cable, thinking it would be quicker than one at a time. I saw it stating that it was deleting the entries of the PM5, but nothing has changed in the logbook, so the entries seemed to have disappeared. I assume that with the USB they went to the laptop somewhere, but any backup files get the error message in this post and I don't seem to have the PM5 files with the DDMMYYY, so I'm at a loss as to where they all went. Any ideas ?

...and +1 to the C2 developer who spent the time to figure it out and suggest a work around and the support polices that allow them to do so. You expect that from $1M+ industrial equipment, not <$1K exercise stuff. C2's support of older equip like model B etc is extraordinary too. Makes me feel good about using their equipment.DiRex wrote: ↑April 5th, 2017, 4:51 pmGuys,
