Log Card problems

Post by big.mac » October 22nd, 2016, 12:37 pm

Hello All,

I'm just returning to rowing after a long break. I've upgraded my PM3 to a PM5 and registered for an on-line logbook and want to upload all of my old workouts from my log card onto the on-line logbook. In theory this is all OK, however, my log card has been laying in a drawer for a few years unused. When i plug it in to my PM3 it gives an error message and won't read the card. I've tried another PM so it is the card at fault not the PM. I tried connecting the PM to my laptop and running C2 Utility but that just gives the same error. Is there anything I can do to get the card to be recognised so I can upload the old workouts? As a second option, I have a copy of the data from the logcard in a spreadsheet, is there a way to upload from the spreadsheet. I'd really like to capture it all in one place as I have quite a lot of historical data.

Thanks for the help

It's not possible to read *.CSV files and upload to the online logbook.

If you've got a *.LCB file you can upload that.

Thanks for the info, I did a search on the PC but don't seem to have any LCB files. Is there anything else that I can do to try and recover the data somehow? The C2 website talks about log cards being corrupted by copying to csv files and recommends connecting using the PM which then rewrite the card. Mine doesn't do this, just says it can't read the card. I really don't want to lose all my data ☹️

It's probably a dead loss.

You can manually log workouts on https://log.concept2.com but only for this season. For historical seasons you can record a total number of metres rowed but not individual workouts.

I too am having logcard problems. I have a PM4 with has the latest firmware. The last few nights it came up with an error after a row and now doesn't show 2 of the user names on the card. Does this mean the card is corrupt and these user names are gone for good?

I know i can manually add the rows to the logbook for now. Is this retrievable or do i need a new logcard and start a fresh?

Any help would be good

Start by spending a fiver for a new LogCard, they're flash memory and don't last forever.

If you can read it to an *.LCB file with the Utility and your card reader you can restore that on a new card.

Not familiar with the PM5 but if you still have your PM3 there are some ideas here http://www.concept2.com/service/monitor ... ard-issues.

I have had errors/unreadable cards in the past and have been able to successfully repair them using 'Resolution 2' from the above link. Sometimes just rubbing the card on a cloth and then reinserting works too. Good luck.

PM5 dropped the logcard in favour of a USB 2.0 memory stick. There's no way to move old logcard data to a new stick.
