Looking for testers who are able test a developer application for connecting Connect IQ enabled watches to the Concept2 PM5 on either a rower or skierg. Please read the requirements below carefully before accepting to do this.
Requires
This application requires a Concept2 PM5 with firmware v22.
Watch/Device
At this time I am looking for users who have one of the following devices:
- vivoactive
- vivoactive HR
- FR230
- FR235
- FR630
- FR920XT
- Edge 520
User
User must be self-sufficient in managing their rowing environment. This means they are comfortable upgrading the firmware on the PM5 and Garmin device without assistance from developer.
This is development software, it will not impact your equipment but changes to your firmware and Garmin device may interfere with other software you're using and can impact your training. User should be comfortable with this and can afford the possible distruption in their training. If not, this is probably not for you.
If you're comfortable with the above and are interested, please PM me with an email I can work with you on. I will do my best to update the post to indicate I have reached the desired number of testers per device. Thanks!

I am in the market for a watch and own a PM5. Which watch would you recommend that is the most rowing friendly and uploads to Strava (or Runkeeper)?
After purchase I can become a tester.

I have a vivosmart HR, vivosmart and an edge 1000...
Willing to give it a go, but I'm guessing the iq connect is different.. Fenix3 maybe?

The Fenix3 will hopefully be supported at some point but there are still some things being worked through. When it is ready I will let you know.

I don't want to guarantee what this will or won't work with plus the watches provides many different features. What I will say is that make sure if you do look into a Garmin watch is that it is Connect IQ 2.X based.

I'm thinking of buying a Vivoactive HR.
This application replaces all of the previous functionality the ANT+FE connection gave you. This passively listens to the PM5 so it shouldn't interfere with any other configurations on the PM5, that is part of what the testing is going to highlight. The data is automatically sent to Garmin connect. The link below is a activity I downloaded from Connect and loaded into SportTracks. There are some things to work out but in general it is fully functional.

A few posts earlier he gave this url:
https://sporttracks.mobi/activity/12712202
It looks very clear and promising te me.
I think the recognises my location , because for me the interface is in Dutch.
You can combine charts by using the plus-sign.

sorry, maybe i wasn't precise enough.
I meant the garmin activity, not the exported sport tracks.

I tried sending a PM to you but it is just sitting the in the outbox, I don't know if that means it is sent or not. Go to the Garmin site here:
https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/2fc7 ... 3bde99f693. Download the application to your devices and use the contact developer link on the Garmin site to get me an email address. Once I have that I will send the instructions and other information you need.

Here is a sample from Connect. The Garmin site right now treats this as a extension of their activity rather than an activity in it's own right. I have submitted suggestions for improvement but it is outside my control. That said there are charts for speed, hr, power, and stroke rate as well as all summary data under Connect IQ at the bottom. There is a bug with the laps so only the distance and time show at this point. The view is rough but the majority of it is out of my control. The important piece is the FIT file data and it is all there. Once Garmin, Strava, and Training Peaks adjust to use it and I think in the long run they will, this will be a suitable replacement for the ANT+FE function previously used.
Notes:
- I'm aware of the confusion having Garmin's incorrect data and my data in the view is but as mentioned before I can't really do anything about it.
- The views use speed instead of pace/500m, this is because I don't have a good way to convert at this time, it is in progress.
- The stroke count and calorie count aren't correct for interval workouts, this is a known issue and is being worked on

Thanks..more or less what I expected (albeit the cadence/spm was inaccurate at 58/60)
You didn't list edge 1000 as one of your platforms, although it uses biker monkey interface too, any reason for this ?

The issue I mentioned above is highlighted with the cadence field. There are two entries, the one you reference here is the Garmin field and is not correct. There is a second stroke rate graph and stroke rate information under Connect IQ at the bottom which comes from the monitor and is correct. If you already know this sorry for the repeat, each element in the FIT file (non-developer) has a native number associated with it. Developers using Garmin's system create developer fields and can associate those fields with a native number which I have done. It is up to the site that presents this data to override or ignore the native number mapped items. In this case, Garmin is currently adding the FIT data as supplemental and not using the native number mappings. Hopefully this explains why the Garmin site looks very different than the Sport Tracks site. Sport Tracks uses the developer native number mappings and generates the information in the link I posted above. This is new for everyone and I have hope in the long run it will all come together seamlessly.
The Edge 1000/800 not being supported is simply I just haven't gotten to it. I plan on supporting all devices which are reasonably accessible. There is a lot of mis-information as well as correct information about the limitations of CIQ 1.3 versus CIQ2.X. For this particular application unless something un-expected occurs, it should support both CIQ families.
