Is there only one kind of rower handle to Concept2. I have just bought a model D for my wife and me, but she would like a handle with a smaller diameter. Does anyone have a solution to it?

Think you can still buy the old model C wooden handle from concept 2? Not sure if the diameter is less but it has squishy foam handles which are probably easier to grip? Also I believe the overall width of the handle is less.

You could of course also fashion one yourself out of just about anything - like a length of steel tube - drill two holes and wrap some bike grip tape over the ends.

The old wood handle is considerably thicker. I've found however that rowing heavy meters I don't get blisters with the old "C" wooden handle. I actually prefer it.

The old C handle is thicker.

Change your grip you don't need to get your fingers right round the handle, your fingers just hook the handle.

Could also cut off the blue covering on the handle and take it down to the hard plastic... the ergs on my last cruise ship had had that done at some point. I was afraid it would be really uncomfortable, but it wasn't so bad, and it did make the diameter of the handle smaller.

With thousands of repetitious pulls, a smaller diameter handle will begin to "bite" more, as the load per area will be higher. Recommend experimenting with the hooked fingers grip first.

The wood handle felt thicker to me, too. I wanted to see how much thicker it is compared to the newer handle. I measured the circumference of each handle around the foam and rubber grips about an inch from the end. Surprisingly, both handles had the same circumference--4 3/4 inches or 12 centimeters.

The wood handle is straight and the plastic handle is angled downward. The wood handle is also about three inches shorter than the plastic handle. Because of that, the hands are placed closer together. Those reasons and the difference in texture of the foam grip as opposed to the newer rubber grip could account for a feeling of added thickness when none is actually present.

Thank you for the many inputs. I think I'll let the handle be as it is and see if it is not simply a matter of getting used to it. Once again thank you.
