LCD darkness default level
Would very much like to know how to set the default LCD darkness level to around a 40 setting. Half of the ergs that we use have a default of about a 100 which is too dim to be able to read. Thanks very much. BIRC

Re: LCD darkness default level
The default level will be set when you replace the batteries if you allow the big capacitor to discharge (you'll have to reset date/time in that case).
As long as you keep good batteries (and there's no corrosion on the circuit board and the big capacitor isn't blown) then it should stick at the level you set from the menu.

The Default value is set at the factory and you cannot change it.
Typically it is about 134 but I have never seen one set at 40 so I suggest you have other problems.
Yes leaving the batteries out or hitting the reset button on the back of the later model ones returns you to the factory default setting. They arrived at this setting as it was the optimum for that screen that was fitted at the time it left the factory.
Would love to know how to change the default value but was told it couldn't be done. The newer LCD graphic screen are much more consistant than the old one that needed from about 60 to 200+ to get the right contrast setting.

It must be a good idea to take the monitor apart, check the LCD ribbon cable is well seated and that there's no obvious corrosion on the board.
