pm2+ leakage problem

Hello,

Here a question about a pm2+ with leakage problem, posted from Holland.

I am working on the pm2+ monitor; already changed the R24 and still
the meters stay on zero when rowing.
I don't trust the yellow 686 5k (by head) can anybody tell me how
to 'lift' it from the board ?

I replaced the 1000 ohm r24 with a 101 from an older board (that
measured 102 ohm) ..

kind regards,
Hans

You not looking at the right components but your in the right area.

The most common cause of the problem you outline is no 3Vdc to the top of the board area to power the tach input Op-Amp. This results in the monitor doing everything okay EXCEPT doesn't show your rowing.

Right below the bottom battery terminals is the problem area, the battery acid has taken out a copper track. Pour Vinegar over this area and neutralise and then wash with water and hit it with compressed air to dry.

The track to and from R25 is the likely problem, in particular the copper via to the other side of the board goes open and you need +3Vdc accross the yellow tant C11 at the top of the board.

Thans for putting me in the right track!

I found out that the soldering of the r25, the left part seen as the battery stations are above, was
completely gone as well as a part of the copper connection to c8.

I soldered the foot of the r25 including, in that soldering, the connection with c8.

And now its up and running again !

Thank you Carl
