PM3 vs. PM4

Sorry if this post is redundant -- I couldn't find the answer in a quick search and I didn't get a reply from an email to Concept2.
I want to purchase a SkiErg. My only remaining decision is selecting the PM3 or the PM4. It seems the PM4 is more useful in a multi-SkiErg or Indoor Rower environment; mine would be used at home. The only thing that makes me consider the PM4 is, as I understand from the Concept2 website, is that the PM4 is compatible with the Suunto comfort belt. I am a long time user of a Suunto T6 and T6c and like its ability to record and display my information, analyze workouts, etc. I have logs going back to 2003.
Perhaps the website is clear and I just don't want to believe it but do I understand correctly that to get heart rate displayed on the PM3, I need to purchase a sensor and that that sensor/PM3 combination is NOT compatible with Suunto?
