Sorry if this post is redundant -- I couldn't find the answer in a quick search and I didn't get a reply from an email to Concept2.
I want to purchase a SkiErg. My only remaining decision is selecting the PM3 or the PM4. It seems the PM4 is more useful in a multi-SkiErg or Indoor Rower environment; mine would be used at home. The only thing that makes me consider the PM4 is, as I understand from the Concept2 website, is that the PM4 is compatible with the Suunto comfort belt. I am a long time user of a Suunto T6 and T6c and like its ability to record and display my information, analyze workouts, etc. I have logs going back to 2003.
Perhaps the website is clear and I just don't want to believe it but do I understand correctly that to get heart rate displayed on the PM3, I need to purchase a sensor and that that sensor/PM3 combination is NOT compatible with Suunto?

Re: PM3 vs. PM4
The PM4 has ANT+ HR built in.
C2 announced more ANT+ features are coming:
http://www.concept2.com/us/support/manu ... CES-C2.pdf
"January 6, 2011 – Morrisville, VT – Rowers and skiers may soon be able to analyze and share their Concept2
workout data in even more ways through enhanced connectivity with Garmin® and other ANT+ fitness
equipment. New firmware for the Performance Monitor 4 (PM4), available on both Concept2 Indoor Rowers
and the Concept2 SkiErg, would allow for second-by-second data to be stored in Garmin® watches and uploaded
online for detailed analysis and reporting.
The PM4 will wirelessly send workout data to Garmin® watches such as the FR60 and the GPS-enabled watches
210 and 310XT.
...
The ANT+ wireless features will also enable communications with other ANT+ enabled platforms. Some Android
phones and tablets that are coming soon contain TI chipsets that will be able to receive data as well.
The firmware update will be available free of charge to Concept2 PM4 users and is scheduled to be released in
April 2011."
