Model D, frame lock not engaging

Hi everyone,

I recently came into possession of an early model D1. There seems to be something funky about the the frame lock area. I notice that one of the bolts running top to bottom (that hold the monorail hanger) are missing. Also the frame lock does not seem to be engaging. It spins a full 360 degrees without ever coming into contact with anything. How do these normally work?

I double checked everything and the monorail seems to be seated onto the bolts properly. Everything is aligned and the rower is perfectly useable otherwise.

Any help or suggestions would be very welcome!

Thanks,

The low quality makes it difficult for me to make any comparisons between the rower in the video and mine. I assume that the framelock is supposed to wedge itself against the monorail some-place in its travel? Or does it brace against another part that I might be missing?

This diagram shows very clearly how the lock works and where it is attached. Maybe the installer put it in the wrong location. It's a simple mechanism and was used for many years without problems: http://www.concept2.com/files/pdf/us/in ... nstrux.pdf

I have an old D1 as well, a couple questions:

1) Does your lock have the tabs at the end? Mine broke off, I installed a new lock, pretty easy fix;
2) Has the reinforcement kit been installed? When I installed mine, I think I over tightened the cross bolts, making the fit very very tight. I had to force the machine together, and I think that is where I broke the tabs off the lock. I loosened the bolts a little and the fit, while still tighter than I would like, is manageable.
