I want to simulate the instability of being on a single skull in the water so that I can improve my balance while erging.
I have seen ergs modified with DIY wooden rockers attached to the bottom to get the effect of balancing on the water, but I am looking for an off the shelf product.
I found this (http://www.coreperform.com/product.php), but I would like something that forces you to balance the whole erg. Destabilizing the seat alone probably would have a much different effect.
Anyone have any ideas?

I confess I am guilty of making the homemade wooden dowel contraption. Maybe this is more like what you have in mind:

As a general rule I don't like posting product links. But since this one attaches to an erg you have to have bought already, I don't see a problem: http://www.rowbalance.com
These folks have had booths recently at Crash-Bs, and I imagine will be there again if you want to wait to try it out. I can say from my own demo experience that you absolutely cannot 'gorilla' the erg if it's in one of these mounts. You have to keep laterally balanced as you would in a boat.

Thanks guys. That product is about what I had in mind. But I was hoping it would be less expensive.
I may just go with a more simple home made contraption.

How sad.
People going to incredible lengths trying to make a C2 erg more boat like. All resulting in crude and tacky contraptions that still lack the most important aspect of rowing simulation; dynamic movement.
If you have the cash it would be far more prudent to wait until mid September when the RP3 goes on sale in the USA. A design incorporating both balance and dynamic movement all in the one unit. International elite rowers that have used it swear by it as being the best rowing simulator available.

Roland, what seems most sad is that you have nothing better to do than troll C2's forum and try and push RP3. Get a life dude!
