I recently received my moving storage and was eager to get back on my Model C only to discover my PM2+ monitor would not turn on. I went to replace the batteries only to discover that the old ones had corroded. After digging around in the forum here I have come to the realization that I am not the first person that this has happened to.

So, I just want to verify, my only real option is to upgrade to a PM3 (or PM4, I guess, if I wanted to part more money)? Am I missing other options?

Yes this is the biggest killer of the PM2 or PM2+.

They should be run on Lithium or Ni-MH rechargables and you don't have the leakage problem.

There are people who repair them if you search online and I repair them as well but in all honesty, if you intend to do any online rowing in the future then the PM3 or the PM4 is a far better monitor these days.

I run both at the same time on my Model C, but this is so I get the drag factor displayed all the time and the projected distance or time which I like.
