Model D seat not rolling smoothly

Post by brea5125 » November 20th, 2015, 3:11 am

I've had my model d for about a month and have approx 130,000 m on it.
For the last two weeks I've had problems with the seat not rolling smoothly. I clean it with windex after every time I use it and I've cleaned the rollers every few days. I find that part takes a while bc if I put the cloth against it and roll the rollers stop moving and it slips instead of slides. Also, My house isn't very dusty.

So I'm at a loss for what the problem is. How do I clean this more effectively so it'll slide smoother?

Just clean rollers and track every time before getting off. The rollers in particular, we have to push a damp rag up against them and then roll the seat away, keeping the rag pressed up hard. Can feel the lumps too. Could be the smaller rollers below, too tight, but unlikely.

There are a few theories as to where the black dirt comes from: mine is that it's filler, graphite or MoS2, squeezed out of the plastic rollers, but after ten years that should be over and done with. But ìt ain't, so my thing must be acting as a vacuum cleaner, or maybe I should shower more often.

The black on the rollers is fine partials wear from the stainless slide.

Even with a spotless slide and spotless white rollers you get the black on the rollers after a single row.

Keep it all clean enough and the rollers and slide appear to polish up rather than getting lines down the slide, its still slow wear all the same and you cannot stop it.

Never had to replace the rollers on the Model C and the old grey ones are better than the new white ones on my Model D, just a bearing replacement to R6-2RS in the rollers then you don't have to worry about them again.

Thanks guys. I'll keep wiping it down and clean the rollers more.
