rattling inside flywheel

Post by Laura Ann » March 8th, 2010, 4:43 pm

I have an almost-new model D that I haven't used much yet, so I haven't done any chain maintenance yet. It worked fine the last time I rowed, a few days ago. I just got on, and there is a weird sound coming from the flywheel - it sounds as though there are little plastic balls rattling around in there. What could be going on?

I'd open the cage and clean out the inside.

Apparently the cover had worked itself loose or out of alignment. I took it off, and when I rowed there was no noise. I put the cage back on, making sure it was tightened and lined up, and the noise is gone. That was easy!
