I'm getting ready to buy a C2 D with PM4. I want to acquire heart rate data. Does the log card have the ability to store real time HR data or do I need RowPro to do this? If the Log card can do this what is the sample rate or does it only store the max min and average heart rate?

The log card stores the heart rate data along side your split data. It must be the average HR for the split. You also end up with an average overall like the ave/500m for the whole session. I really only got a Logcard to increase the storage to about 200 results instead of the 20 on the monitor. Also if RowPro should crash for any reason you can upload the logcard to the C2 Log in RowPro. You cannot do this from the memory inside the PM so you need the card.

You need RowPro. The maximum number of HR samples you can store on a single workout on a LogCard is 30 as that's the maximum number of splits. For a 2K the max is 20 samples as you can't set a split less than 100m.

You don't need RowPro. Chris Brett's free PMI interface (connects the PM to a computer via USB) will allow you to store as much HR data per stroke as your hard drive can handle.

The second of the two sample User Forms will allow you to toggle HR for data capture.

Problem is that PMI uses Active X and requires M$ Office (not free). Since I'm buying a mid-price laptop I'm not spending money on office when openoffice will work just fine. So for $99 Rowpro seems a reasonable solution

MS Office isn't a prerequisite. I've seen someone post a PMI application hosted in something free - it may have been Internet Explorer, but I can't remember who it was, or what the application was. Not that helpful a post, sorry. Hmm, Canadian and rugby player spring to mind. His avatar has a picture of a fine old building with a white balcony on first floor level. I'm grasping at straws here.

I don't think the HR side is even in the top 10 of what is good about RowPro when you start using it.

The live online rowing against different people from all over the world or even just against a group of your mates is the number 1 reason I use it.

I still cannot work out why more people don't use it, perhaps some of the earlier version put people off or I'm just one of a few that likes a bit of competition or to row with others. Many people are into just thrashing out sessions on their own but for some reason I find that a little boring.

I would agree with the online rowing against/with others part and it is why I'm looking forward to my C2 arriving and getting the laptop to go with it.
