I have been rowing on Model D at work. Recently, I bought one for home and I cannot come close to my times at work.
Can anybody help? Is it mechanical? Lube maybe?
Are some rowers faster than others?

What are the differences in machines, and how much difference in time?pbuehler wrote:I have been rowing on Model D at work. Recently, I bought one for home and I cannot come close to my times at work.

Check that you have a similar Drag Factor on both machines. You tend to get used to a certain drag and if it suddenly changes it can throw you off your usual pace.

time differences
I row a 7:07 2000 and can normally cruise at 1:45/500 on Tabata intervals. With the same effort I am at 1:58/500.

As a general proposition, you should be able to set the damper such that what you row on one erg you can row on any other. If you're that off, something is wrong.
Drag factor is one possibility. Whether the floor under one or both of the ergs isn't level is another.
You might also check to see whether the monitor for the one at work is configured for a Model D/E. Look under "More "Options"/ "Utilities"/ "Product ID" on the monitor. It should tell you what hardware (i.e. version) the monitor's set up for. If it's set up for a model C rather than a D/E you'll get faster (spurious) pace numbers. Reconfiguring it isn't hard, should that prove to be the case. But it's not worth explaining unless there actually is a problem....
