Using the LogCard vs Online LogBook?

Folks,
I am relatively new here, I just purchased a Model E last week and have been getting acquainted with the operation, learning to row and getting used to the technique based on the various videos and reading materials.
While most elements of the unit are fairly intuitive, including the operation of the PM4, there are some aspects I am not clear about. So here it goes:
Should I be using both the online logbook and the logcard that came with the unit? Is there a benefit to using both or does one replace the other? I have not yet installed the software that came in the package on my imac, so my apologies if I am missing something. But it appears that the logcard is saving/collecting more detailed information. I have tried looking for some additional reading material on the C2 website on how the two pieces fit together, but have no found anything.
Any advice on more effective usage of these tools, including any additional reference source is greatly appreciated.
Kind regards,
Dimitri
