I see coments made in the RowPro Logbook are actually coming up on the new C2 Logbook.

These are quite useful for entering the likes of the total number of strokes to get an accurate rating, your average HR and the temperature.

Does that mean you can upload from rowpro now?

It lost some of my rankings during the transfer!
( I suspect they were both ranked from races - 1 and 2 km)

Still no upload from the RowPro Logbook.

A search "Options" function has appeared, nicely stuck where more info in columns should be. Looks like your relative position in terms of your total meters has returned which is a good thing but I'm falling like a lead balloon with no uploads.

Still no more information on the screen than the last version, hope that there is still work in progress.

Still has the potential to be so much better than the old version, fingers crossed.

Does that count for an American system, hosted on an American server and ruled by American law?
Hi!

Personal data that is been transfered via Internet should be encrypted no matter where in the world the server or client is located. I don't think that this is an 'American' thing. C2 has thousands of users all over the world. HTTPS is no new Internet feature. It is a standard for data hosting sites.

there is no "requirement" other than to encrypt the data other than the preposition - why shouldn't it be ?

why should my personal data (be it my weight, age, sexual orientation, fetisch for baked beans) be 'openly' transmitted. the CA required for https isn't that complicated and is used on most sites (non EMV related ; EMV - EuroCard / Mastercard / Visa Standard).

I spuppose the better question would be - what could someone do with this information and does this propose a risk (to me).

I could think of a few business activities that would love to have this information for either profiling (spam mail), health / medical insurance etc.

If it's deeply important to you write an email to ranking@concept2.com
You could argue that this forum should be https using your same arguments.

But the underlying question is "What are you protecting, and who are you protecting it from?"

Are these data that much more important than the stuff you post on Faceborg? Which might run behind a https certificate but with a "claimed" 1.2Bn users Facebork is hardly private.

Lets not panic about the data in the C2 Website or Log, in any case didn't I see a note that a variety of new security settings were going to be in your profile so that you can choose who gets to see the information ?

It is funny how people will not put even their real name here and yet splatter their entire lives over Facebook. Its one of the reasons I never joined Facebook, deep down I have a bad feeling about a site like this and not just from a personal information point of view.

Hopefully we will get the word when the RowPro upload function is up and running again.

I posted the temporary workaround for the absent RP upload capability elsewhere. RP is tolerant of the logcard. Shift the RP-controlled row from the slaved monitor memory to logcard and thru the card reader to the utility. Probably do the same from monitor memory with the usb cable. Can't say whether the PM5 and stick would allow this.

Some fixes are starting to roll through the Logbook changes. There are still bugs in transitioning back to or to other topics. For example, if I select view 'All' on the main logbook screen and select 'View' in a line, when I return I'm set back to viewing 50 per screen. It should remember. If I view current rankings for a distance in the 'Ranked workouts,' when I go to 'Rankings,' I think I should be at that distance and age group. Now, I'm not. There is no sorting on 'Type' of rower. Many enter skierg, erg, and OTW numbers. Separating them is important. There is still no selection for State when filtering rankings. Actually, it would be nice to enter a comma-separated list of states. Sometimes it is convenient to know who has posted in a certain state or area. Perhaps the 'Rankings' page has not been gotten to. Most of the columns should be sortable. I could not access one person's profile who has a 'Race' for their time. I'm hoping C2 reads this topic. I've also sent some mails. I think that C2 just did not realize the importance of some stuff that they left out. Telling them what is insufficient is important.

Hi Jim,

Re:

At the moment, the library we use remembers page number as well as total per page, which means if you view page 6 of 50, and then went to the season the next day, you'd be on page 6, so this has been temporarily shelved while I patch the library.
If I view current rankings for a distance in the 'Ranked workouts,' when I go to 'Rankings,' I think I should be at that distance and age group. Now, I'm not.
That is what should happen. If you click on "View Rankings" it takes you to the start of the Rankings for that age, gender and weight. If you click on X of Y it takes you to your position. If this doesn't happen for you it's a bug. Please drop me an email at ranking@concept2.com to work through it.
There is no sorting on 'Type' of rower. Many enter skierg, erg, and OTW numbers. Separating them is important.
Where are you referring to here? For a user's log or for, say, the annual meters board? For the former that's possible. For the latter, it will be added in shortly, but that is a new feature that wasn't possible in the old Logbook.
There is still no selection for State when filtering rankings. Actually, it would be nice to enter a comma-separated list of states. Sometimes it is convenient to know who has posted in a certain state or area. Perhaps the 'Rankings' page has not been gotten to. Most of the columns should be sortable.
State filtering for the Rankings will be added shortly. There are significant changes to the Rankings, including searching by individual and affiliation which this was going to be bundled into but maybe it can be brought forward as a separate item.

Affiliation would be quite cool to say find other "rowpro rowers" world wide or in your area so you could possibly contact them to organize online sessions.

The biggest issue with this however is many people don't put in their contact details. This should be an opt out system rather than an opt in system by default, even from within RowPro you cannot contact many individuals where your actual e-mail address is not even shown for the recipient, just like the PM system here.

I consider an opt in by default to be an abomination. I prefer to have it my own choice from the word go. With opt in by default, it is too easy to miss the fact that it is happening that way and end up giving up your privacy inadvertently. There is too damn much of this going on in the corporate world nowadays - and government agencies as well. I see no need whatsoever to have it in a venue such as this forum.

Problem is people skip through the details too fast and don't read all the fields.

Pretty sure most would mind being contacted, remember its like the PM system on this Forum, there is no direct contact and if they didn't like that then opt out.

Its not like you get hundreds of e-mails is it ? one or two in a blue moon.

Anyway looks like the uploads from the RowPro Logbook are now working but the results are not appearing on the C2 Website. Pretty sure this was an instant update before, maybe its not working or its an overnight thing now. At least there is some progress so things nearly sorted for the major stuff.
