(Note: For a long time I left the monitor on the strap and just rinsed the whole thing off. I didn't want to remove/replace it on the strap over and over as I was concerned about wearing out the snaps. Turns out, you really burn through batteries if you leave it on the strap. Something I learned the hard way after not reading the manual.
Doh ! I was a bit unimpressed with the duration of a battery: I measured with 2 different brands batteries and I got 34 and 15 hours of effective training . Yes, you can increase that by some factor (due to rest time, time before actual start/actual stop of session etc), but still a far cry from Polar claim (400hrs with BLE and ANT+ active, I have only BLE active). Not a big deal given the price of the batteries but still, I'll switch to removing the monitor from the strap each time and see if it helps. Thx for pointing this out !
Pure coincidence: I removed the monitor from the strap two days ago (for cleaning and battery replacement) and having been a bit rough at it I kind of damaged where the snaps are fixed to the strap. So yeah, remove carefully.

I have a Polar OH1. It's an optical heart-rate monitor but you wear it on your arm (or forearm) so it's more comfortable Imo.
It's both Bluetooth and ANT+.
The price is similar to an H9 strap, I think.
France / 37 HWT (182cm-6' / 78kg-172lb)
100m = 0:17.0 | 1' = 342m | 500m = 1:34.0
1k = 3:24.7 | 2k = 7:13.1 | 5k = 19:36.2| 10k = 40:51.0
Mainly running, but enjoying rowing too

I use a CooSpo, and it's significantly cheaper than Polar. I've never had an issue, apart from occasionally having to wash the chest strap, and eventually, after about five million metres, having to change it

Every bit as accurate as named brands. If you just want it to link with PM5, ErgData, Strava and similar apps why waste money for a name?

I have a Coospo chest strap that works great. They have a couple different models on Amazon. The one I have is $22.99 right now. This one beeps after it detects a heart rate and when you take it off it beeps stating it is disconnected. I like that. I use it for cycling and rowing and It has been rock solid for well over a year.
I’ve had a Garmin in the past and the Coospo is very similar. The chest strap is identical. You can actually interchange the chest straps.
I tried 4 different brands of arm band heart rate monitors and did not care for any of them. Everyone of them had sporadic readings and were not accurate. I tried wearing them on my wrist, forearm, and bicep. I wish the arm bands worked because I personally don’t think the chest strap is very comfortable.
Good luck and don’t obsess to much over the heart rate numbers
Hey guys I am in Canada, and we have 3 different models.

Is there a model that is better?

The first 2 links are both model H808S just different colors.
The H808S is their newest model that beeps when it connects and disconnects and has an led indicator light. I’d go for this one.
The 3rd link is their older model
