Model C Speed Sensor Pickup Problem
Re: Model C Speed Sensor Pickup Problem
Thanks very much. Looks like that’s the way to go. I guess something just gives up in the sensor somewhere- sometimes quickly other times after having had a bit more life. I’ll sort a new sensor and we’ll see.
Re: Model C Speed Sensor Pickup Problem
A bit embarrassing to own up to this but thought someone else might just make the same basic mistake - make sure if you replace the magnets that the ‘south’ is facing the sensor. I had 2 one way and 1 the other... a lot of frustration trying to work out what was wrong as a result.Carl Watts wrote: ↑December 13th, 2017, 10:06 pmCheck the 3 magnets in the flywheel.
Also the distance the face of the flywheel to the pickup is important, those magnets are only small. The nuts on both sides of the shaft need to be done up all the way.
Check the magnets with a paper clip, there should be "Attraction" there. Any rust can get through the magnet nickel plating and then the magnet goes weak and actually just falls to bits.
The pickup is fine, your problem is elsewhere
