I've got this old pair of shot to heck running shoes that I've been using on the erg for years. They're the comfiest thing ever. I figure that since they're so old and worn out all the padding's more or less gone.
I'm definitely going to try making a set of those Swing Slings tho, they look great! I've always wanted to erg barefoot, but could never get comfy doing so, those look like just the ticket.

Re: Barefoot: Corns on Heels?
I'd try sanding the corn off, use poutices, powdered sulfur etc and get rid of it.rah wrote:I'd like to row barefoot, but I've got this corn on the back of one heel, which makes it annoying. Anyone have the problem? What do you do about it?
The plastic straps on the flexfeet are great for rowing barefoot. I've sanded off the sharp edges with some emery paper and they are very smooth now. I've rowed up to 110 kilometers in a day this way and with no problems at all.
I wouldn't use sling swings as they could screw up your achilles.
Just use the regular straps.
Good luck and have fun.

Please explain how Swing Slings (tm)would do that? They are in use by many people, with many millions of meters logged, and not a single report of any "screwed up achilles".John Rupp wrote:

I know why you are attacking the product, you've got a major chip on your shoulder regarding me, but I still have no idea where all your animosity comes from. Have you been Life Coaching too long or something?

Heather,
I am very impressed with your 100 kilometers rowing at one time.
I posted this before and must have reposted over it.
That is very impressive. Good for you.
