Re: Garmin watch and PM5
I am using FR210 with a PM5 without any problem.

Yeah, I hope something is in the works.Wundej wrote:

Scott, is it possible to get an idea where this is at the moment? Do you by any chance have a list of features and their targeted firmware releases? I completely understand development life cycles but it would just be great to see if this is something we could expect to see enabled on the PM5 for the older Garmin watches. Ideally a connection to the new watches with the IQ OS would be ideal. There are a lot of posts with interest for that integration. Those using the c2 for a cross training tool are often going to have one of the Garmin watches and this definitely would be a selling point for many.
Any details you could provide would be appreciated. If there isn't a specific plan for support I'll probably just get a FR 630, and hope something gets worked out in the future. If the older watches will be supported soon, I may just get a 210/610.
If I have to buy another watch like a Fr210 to get info into garmin connect from the erg, my 2 watches would cost the same as what I paid for the Model D PM5

I think you'll do better by either writing an email to rowing@concept2.com or to Scott directly (his email address is on his forum avatar).Wundej wrote:

Looks neat, but its almost the same costs another watch anyway.Livio Livius wrote:Maybe wait for the Ergstick (will come in feb https://ergstick.com/ )
Re: Garmin watch and PM5
Current PM5 firmware should work: More/Turn Wireless ON/Or Connect with ANT+ and the older watches FR60/70/210/310/610/910 (I'm making that list from memory, don't hold me to it!) should work. Newer watches (920, 230, 235, vivoactive, fenix3, etc. google 'ConnectIQ compatible devices') are all ConnectIQ based and would require an app; and cannot use the ANT+FE profile Concept2 follows. There is a newer profile ANT+FE-C which Concept2 is working on (write to me via email directly or look for upcoming beta firmware), but someone will need to write an app to load on these newer watches. If you are a ConnectIQ developer and reading this, feel free to contact me via email and we can talk.

Thanks for the quick reply Scott.
Now to try and encourage someone to write and app (dangle a community $ carrot), or throw money at the problem with other hardware.![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

Thanks so much for the quick response.
When you connect an older watch with ANT+, if you connect a HRM like a polar H7 to the PM5 via BT Smart, does the HR data get logged on the watch as well? Can you also log the workout with a usb stick?
Regarding the new FE-C profile, is it possible to update this thread when it is in beta fw or is there another thread that we can subscribe to. Once that is available we can bug the IQ developers to help us out

Re: Garmin watch and PM5
I don't believe the ANT+FE protocol passes on the HR data, but I'd have to look at it again. We've implemented the spec fully and you can read it too by going to www.thisisant.com and signing up as an adopter. Unlike Bluetooth Smart, with ANT you can capture the HR data on the watch at the same time as the PM4/5 receives heart rate data. Yes, USB flash drives can capture the data as well.
When you see the next "beta" for PM5 available, the ANT-FE-C will be included. Hopefully before the end of December. I'm working on a few new small features besides: broken & disconnected tach (generator) wire detection; and a few other bug fixes and improvements. When you are using the utility to "Check Now" or just about to start an update, you can put your mouse pointer over the firmware release and it will tell you the change list.

Re: Garmin watch and PM5
I was trying to get away with not having to buy another HRM at the moment for the Garmin watch since I already had the Polar that I've been using with the PM5 and iPhone/micoach. I'll need one eventually if I get a FR630 but didn't want to have to get one right away if I use a 610/210 with the PM5 until the ConnectIQ stuff is sorted out (I'm being optimistic and saying "not if, when").
Thanks again for the info.

What would you like to do? Have a usb plugged in at the same time as the ErgStick?remisture wrote:Will this work with the usb stick connected as well?Livio Livius wrote:Maybe wait for the Ergstick (will come in feb https://ergstick.com/ )
Re: Garmin watch and PM5
The Row App is probably what more people will use given the current iteration. The Row Indoor App only provides stroke rate and other metrics based on the accelerometer, doesn't link up with the C2PM at this point. Tried last night and I didn't see anything to indicate it worked any differently.GrantM wrote:Progress, havent had a chance to check.

Yup. tried today, not much there, but maybe a small start.jcl wrote: The Row App is probably what more people will use given the current iteration. I'm just really hoping it comes together sooner rather than later.
Living in hope someone that can takes up the challenge to work with C2/Garmin on this to get it ironed out.

Any status on this? Did the PM5 get ANT+ FE-C ready for a developer to write an app? Will Concept2 provide that developer?c2scott wrote:When you see the next "beta" for PM5 available, the ANT-FE-C will be included. Hopefully before the end of December.
