I upgraded my PM2 on my model C to a PM5. When you pull the handle, the PM and the backlight goes on.
Thanks, I guess that means you don't get as much battery life with a Model A-C as you do with the more recent models. Hopefully it lasts fairly long anyway.
So I'm going to be putting my PM5 onto a Model B, and removing the PM2 from the Model B and putting it onto an old Model A that I have. This way I'll have two working machines.
But I need to know how to initialize the PM5 to be used with a Model B, and how to initialize the PM2 to be used with a Model A. If C2 includes this in their manuals, then I haven't been able to find it. I already moved the PM2 to the Model A, and it does not give the correct stroke count, so I assume this is the problem. Does anyone know what magic buttons are needed to set the C2 models for the different PMs? Or where to find a collection of all the magic button sequences for the different PMs?

With a PM3/PM4/PM5 there's a hidden menu
Main menu --> More options --> Utilities --> LCD Contrast
Once on there press [CHANGE UNITS] three times then press [CHANGE DISPLAY] three times.
With a PM2 you can't change the model that a PM2/PM2+ is built for, it's all done with hard-wired electronics.

Having looked at the above info about beta software, I took a chance and tried the same "upgrade" to my new PM5. I did mine via USB, and it also worked, and my PM5 now shows it has firmware V16, and I have Bluetooth connectivity with my iPhone 5S. So far, everything seems to work - as of December 30, 2014, at 4:38 p.m., Eastern Time......
Likewise. Rower arrived yesterday and I upgraded the firmware this afternoon. No connectivity issues with the iPhone 6+, pretty cool.

Are you guys who got V 16 using PC computers? I can only get V15 on Mac.

I used my MacBook Pro and a USB stick. I checked the box to allow beta software to be downloaded. Then, on the updates screen I checked the box to "download all" of the updates- which probably put a bunch of stuff on my stick I don't need. I don't think I could tell that I had V16 on the stick, but when I plugged it into my PM5, it initiated the update screen and asked if I wanted to update it. I did that, then checked the software version, and voila- V16.

I got it to work today, and have V16 now. I was confused when the MAC version of firmware for the Utility was 6.82, while the PC version is 6.83.
Now, if I download ErgData, does it allow pairing of the PM5 with the iPhone and the heart rate belt at the same time? I may have some questions as I get started with this.
Thanks to all,
Lee

Concept 2 have confirmed to me that the issue with the V16 firmware was if you updated via USB stick - it locked up a few PM5s so was pulled whilst they try to rectify it. However, the said updating by connecting your PM5 directly to your laptop or PC should be fine. Did just that this afternoon and all good for me. PM5 connecting nicely to my iPhone via Bluetooth now. Not sure how a heart rate monitor connects though......

Try wearing your heart rate belt and connecting it to the PM5. Then open ErgData & "turn wireless on" on your PM5 in the "more options" section. You should get all of it together.

New to rowing, just set up my rower and updated my PM5 with V16 software yesterday. Connected to iPhone 4S and it worked ok. Looking to purchase an HRM also.

Mine just arrived today. Already upgraded to V16 from factory. I'm also looking for a good HRM. They seem to range from $30-60. Though people mentioned that only the PM3 supports ANT + BT simultaneously. However is anyone aware if the PM5 can support an ANT HRM and then BT with my phone at the same time?

The PM3 doesn't support ANT, ANT+, BT or BTLE at all.
The PM4 supports ANT & ANT+ but not BT or BTLE.
The PM5 supports ANT, ANT+ & BTLE.
I don't know which short range radio systems can be used concurrently, try it.

Could connect both my Garmin watches to it for recording the workout. That was missing in ver 15.
I wondered how you connected your Garmin watch? I have v16 firmware but cannot figure out how to pair the watch and the rower.
Thanks for any help.
Take care

My PM5 does not create any folders when i put my USB stick (8GB, FAT32) in.
It also does not give me any options to make a user on my USB.
I am using firmware 16 build 8 (beta).
The display only shows a usb-stick-icon with a questionmark in it.
What am i doing wrong?

Try another USB stick.
