Total mileage on an erg

Post by 708uvr » December 16th, 2007, 2:30 pm

I noticed people will frequently mention how many total miles are on a machine. How do they know? Is there some kind of internal odometer somewhere or is the figure based on doing the math in logbooks?

PM2 has two odometers, one resetable.

PM3 may have an odometer (depends on firmware level. Versions after V88 include it). Main menu --> more options --> utilities --> product ID will show it on the second page.

PM4 has an odometer. Same menu options as PM3.

Thank you, Citroen. I went to the online guides and now see that my used Model C has a little over a million meters on it. Good to know.

So I take it there's no odometer on a PM1?

(Love this forum, by the way.) :D

There is an odometer on the model A, that's what was used to give results. But unless it has a Performance Monitor retrofitted you won't get total distance rowed on an A.

FYI, the design for the PM3 did not include a lifetime meters counter. This was added after, and is NOT a permanent record: it can be reset by removing batteries for 30 min or so. So, although it MAY be a good indication of how old the monitor is and how long the machine has been used, it is NOT absolute.
