A marathon is 26 miles 385 yards, which is 42194.988 m. A half marathon is 21097.494 m.
Since international events are usually in metric now the marathon distance was rounded to 42195 m, but I am sure that no marathon is actually measured to that degree of accuracy.

I believe John actually is correct about this. The running marathon has changed distances several times before but settled on the metric definition of 41295 in 1921 or 1922. However since then the meter has been redefined a few times!DavidA wrote:A marathon is 26 miles 385 yards, which is 42194.988 m. A half marathon is 21097.494 m.

There is no governing body to define what an erg marathon is. Concept 2 is free to set there own standards so they can define distances however they want, even if adding a meter would have been a little more logical.
Bear in mind your arguing with someone who apparently believes .5 is closer to 1 then it is to zero. (or taking his argument to its logical conclusion .1 is closer to 1 then to zero)

Good point. They could call the 1994 meter event a marathon.Nosmo wrote:Concept 2 is free to set their own standards so they can define distances however they want, even if adding a meter would have been a little more logical.

My 1/4 x 2 1/2" carabiner worked on the C but doesn't fit around the copper piece on the D.freewheeling wrote:The gate on the carabiner provides just enough room to snap the U-bolt.
I got a 5/16" x 3 1/4 carabiner today and it won't even fit through the hole.
A 1/4 x 3 1/4" size should fit, if I can find a source that carries them.
