Removing rust from chain

Hi everyone,
I just got a model C for really cheap, its in good shape but the chain has some rusting on it, any ideas on how I can remove it? Thanks

Hi Lurker,
Assuming the chain has no stiff links and doesn't skip on the drive, you can either: 1) remove it completely from the erg, soak and scrub with sovent, dry it out, reinstall and oil thoroughly with 20 weight oil, or 2) skip the removal and cleaning and simply give it a couple of applications/wipings with the 20 weight. It's not unusual for an erg chain to show some rust near the handle where sweat drips on it. Keeping some oil on it will keep this from getting any worse. C2JonW
