Weird clicking noise

Hey, I bought my erg a couple of months ago and have been using it regularly and maintain it as required - I do however get like a strange clicking noise sometimes coming from the mechansim underneath the arm, it is usually at the start of the stroke and there is no change in the tension - it sounds like the pulley underneath is a little loose and hitting the frame somehow? - I have tightened the shock cord as directed but no real improvement - it is very clear when I increase my effort - any ideas anyone?

Reeroar, I'd first look at the Chain Idler Pulley, which is a translucent 1" pulley located on an axle directly below the flywheel axle inside the frame. The chain runs over this pulley and it can sometimes make a clicking noise due to very small metal protrusions on the bronze bearing hitting the axle spacers as the pulley rotates. Usually a little light grease fixes the noise. C2JonW
