Pickup wire - Model B Erg PM5 Retrofit (Feeling Crzy!)

Post by Kimrows » March 29th, 2025, 5:20 am

I'm trying to install my PM5 retrofit onto my model B erg but the pickup body simply does not fit. I feel like this should be a simple install but it isn't. There doesn't seem to be enough clearance to fit it between the cage and fly wheel. Was I sent the wrong cable? My dad lost the original.

I'm also missing the screw (and possibly magnets if those are a thing -- I've been trying to read everything about this but there is no clear instruction with images on how to install this part of the monitor). I could use some help on what to do.

I'd call C2 - they're invariably helpful and should be able to answer all of your questions.

I'd guess that the axle and/or flywheel have shifted outward towards the cage, which is not unusual and often also results in slow handle return. There may be a retaining clip missing somewhere- it's going to take some investigating. Can the flywheel be slid side-to-side at all? If you remove the flywheel assembly from the frame (4 bolts) are the axle retaining clips in place and are they right up against the axle bearings? Are the frame arms too close together causing them to "pinch" the cage assembly? This can be fixed by loosening then retightening the four main frame bolts located under the footplates. Good luck with it....
