I have zero experience when it comes to playing around with rower flywheels and bearings, and perhaps because of that one of my concerns would be if the repaired flywheel would be as balanced as before the operation.

I have a Model C. I’m original owner. 1993!
I upgraded chain and handle years ago. PM5.
I am afraid to swap out for quiet axle because everything is fine now.
Lowest DF is 100. So I was thinking I should lube the axle. With 3 in 1 or some more robust oil?
Does axle need lubrication? So clutch won’t fail? Or leave well enough alone?
I don’t see axle lubrication as part of Model C maintenance on website either.

And which is better ? This forum or Reddit one?

I have a Model D, also from 1993 (its first year, and last year of the Model C).

I firmly believe in "if it ain't broke." I have done nothing other than wiping the rail and rollers, oiling the chain and bushing, and (once in 21 years) opening the casing to clean the flywheel.

If you clutch bearing does go, Concept 2 will sell you a new flywheel assembly for $100, properly balanced.

Thanks. Probably will leave well enough alone
I don’t see oiling the bearing on list of suggested maintenance yet it doesn’t look too difficult.

Model C went from 1993 to 2003. Then Model D.

Have to give the company huge huge credit for all their support of older units and backward compatibility of PM upgrades and parts.
Really unique in my experience.

Thanks to all on this forum, too

Right. At my age I lose decades sometimes. Anyway, if by "bearing" you're referring to my post, I just meant the brass bushing that connects the chain to the handle.
