Handle Stowage?

We recently bought a good used Model D from a Gym that closed down. (558600 meters, rower looks almost new)

Should we store the handle in the handle hooks let it go all the way back to the chain guide? Or does it not matter.

I believe there was a time when back to the chain guide was the recommendation to reduce wear (stretch) on the bungee cord, but that seems to have changed. Of course being anal as I am, I choose the chain guide.

A little over a half million meters? Probably still has that new erg smell!

Just keep to the recommended maintenance schedule & your great grandkids will still be using it long after you're gone.

I put it up against the chain guide. Can't hurt, and it might help.

I always stow it fully retracted like Ombrax.

I ise the handle hook. C2 knows what they are doing, if it mattered for the bungee they would have moved the hook closer to the chain guide.

I use the hook - but only because I don't want to lean forward that little bit more to reach when it's fully retracted at the guide + with no passing foot traffic where it's located I've no risks of pinging it off the hook by accident either.

I put mine on the hook. 20 years old last November. Many millions of meters. Orginal cord works fine.

Handle guide. I don't like the hook because if if I hit the handle when walking by, the handle flies back to the chain guide.

Yep same here - I don't think it really matters but all the way retracted for me to stop it getting knocked.
