Grease slip clutch ?

Post by HornetMaX » March 5th, 2023, 7:32 am

Hi all,

more out of curiosity than anything else, yesterday I took the flywheel off while cleaning the RowErg.
Question: is it worth putting some grease on the slip clutch (one way bearing) or just oiling it (without taking the flywheel off) is enough ?

If grease is worth: how often ? Any specific grease to use ?

Thx !

I have a model D from 2004, with about 15 million meters on it. I put a new chain and sprocket on it a few weeks ago and I greased the clutch. I used bicycle grease. In all the years I've had it I've greased the clutch twice. I wouldn't bother to do it by itself, but if you have the wheel off for some deep cleaning, why not grease it. (It was the first time I changed the chain and sprocket.)

just use a light grease, nothing too thick and tacky. I used a Superlube synthetic grease or a motorcycle chain lube, the older style stuff that's not super tacky.

A very light grease is fine, or just a few drops of light oil is also ok.
