Ok thanks, was totally confused

Yes, can't wait to put it together again and feel how it rows and measures!

Depends a bit whether you can row the hyperfocal distance, Bs. I shoot mostly 2-legged Manuel—oops meant manual. You? But yeah, abbreviation can create cross-discipline confusion. To what depth do you plow the field?

I'm not a native English speaker, what do you mean? Df is depth of field but shutter speed does not impact df, that is the diafragma. Still I don't get your sentence? Thanks for explaining.
Your English is better than many native English speakers ;)

It's together again! It was more easy than I thought to put it together, as easy as taking apart. Drag at damper setting 1 is 100, at 10 it's 229. It's much much more quiet and smooth, it also looks nice. Will make some pics later, now I finally want to row!

First time doing any rowing for years and cardio as well...(I used to do powerlifting)...love it! The split times are addictive, did 3000m at a 2:11 keeping heart rate below 150. After this warming up did a 500m, 1:41. I'm short at 174 cm and weigh 88 kg so happy with that, though feeling a bit tired as heart rate was at 205. Used damper setting 5 for all this and intend to keep it there as I understood that's best. Now the aim is to do min a 5k 3 times a week, improve form and get the heart rate under control.

Congratulations on completing the job!

And on your times - for someone who hasn't done an cardio in years those are very good.

Did today my first 5k, still like it, it works fine, so many more km to row  difficult to take decent pictures in my gym in the dark, the sparkle does not really show very well but it's great irl

Don't mind the junk, I recently built the homegym and need to finish the roof and the window framing inside :?

So project 1 (great word pun  ) finished now, finally time to enjoy it! If I still enjoy it in 1 year I can still decide to upgrade the pm2 but it works fine and a notebook also works

Any idea what item made the difference in reducing the sound?
Could be a clue for other users of the C and D models.

Skipping the installation of the flywheel seems to make a lot of difference in the noise. Makes rowing a lot easier as well :D

Looks like the chain has been running on one edge of the chain guide at some point.

 yes, that would have made it a lot more silent without that noisy flywheel

Indeed, chain has been running next to the roller for a while...

The seat rollers were surprisingly more silent, made a big difference. As I literally changed every other moving part and most were pretty old and well used I could not pinpoint which made the most difference. The flywheel turns more smooth, more buttery. Obviously an air rower is by design loud, but now I have the "air" sound without a grinding chain or loud seat.

Exactly! You clearly see the imprints of the chain on the left edge of the old chain guide in one picture.

Just to update, still rowing and really LOVING this machine. 5k is the perfect distance to have a quick and satisfying workout. And although it might sound silly, watching the silver sparkly center beam when I grab my handle makes me feel motivated to train more and make the effort of pimping my ergo worthwhile.

Still runs very smooth, lubricated the chain, only the monitor is annoying me a bit, have to press hard again on the buttons but that's a minor thing. Back to rowing now

Congratulations, and nice work!

I think you made good decisions, throughout the process. Smart, I think, to go ahead, now, and replace the, relatively inexpensive, bits, so you can enjoy their performance.

You’ve ended up with a very nice machine that, I suspect, will last far beyond the 20 years, you cite. My machine is, about, 8 years old, with, nearly, 10 million meters, on it, and it, still, looks, and operates, as new. No maintenance, beyond chain oiling, cleaning the rail, and seat rollers, and battery replacement.

One feature, of the PM 5 monitor, that I, really, really, like, is the screen backlit feature. I do early-morning rows, with music on, and room lights dimmed, a lot. A very pleasant environment (dimmed lighting), yet, I can, very easily, see the PM 5 monitor values. Nice. Not encouraging a change, for you. Just thought I’d mention.

Again, nice work, and congratulations!
