Polar Wearlink Coded Heart Rate Monitor

Post by omsracer » March 21st, 2022, 9:19 am

I have just purchased Concept 2 model D with a PM5 monitor. I have got from previous gym outing a Polar F7 and Wearlink coded heart rate monitor. I am sure that when I used to go to my gym the heart rate monitor worked on the then concept 2 rower. I don't seem to be able to connect my heart rate monitor to my PM5. I am assuming this is because the monitor does not have Bluetooth or ANT+, whatever that is. Can anyone update me on this as I don't want to buy a heart rate monitor if this one should connect and its user error. Thanks Peter

That Polar is old tech it used to work on the PM2/PM3/PM4 with the receiver plugged into the monitor and stuck under the middle of the monorail.

The PM4/PM5 is ANT+ now and its a far better technology with better range and your strap has a unique ID so you do not get interference. The ANT+ system means you can also pickup the HR on multiple devices if you want to. The connection is direct to the PM4/PM5 now as the ANT+ is internal to the monitor.

Go ANT+, the only thing I use Polar for now is to walk round the block with my old polar watch.
