Is this Model B a good deal?

Post by HramJim » November 13th, 2021, 10:08 pm

Hey, looking to get some advice on buying a Concept 2 Model B. It's about a 40 min drive from my house to go look at. I'm in my mid 30's and overweight, trying to get into better shape. Have a house and an un-insulated garage that would be its home. Don't have a lot of extra income, saving up for the Model D would be a while.

If you can't load the link, all the available info: "Concept 2 model b with upgraded hand pull and feet rest. $175"

"Concept 2 model b, all still working as it should. A testament to their design. Has a upgraded handle and foot rest on it."

If you think it's worth buying, could someone give me some tips on what to look at specifically for this model? Are there any known weaknesses I should check?

The photos don't show any serious defects - no rust, etc. It appears the performance monitor (PM1) still works, which is another indicator that it hasn't been abused or neglected. It looks about as good as my old Model B, which still works great.

However, you should go row it to see how it feels, sounds, and looks. With the cash in your pocket. For $175, I think I'd get it without too much thought. It probably will sell pretty fast.
Mark Underwood. Rower first, cyclist too.

If it's in good shape it's a steal. I just joined the community... I bought a 33-year-old Model B in incredibly good condition for $200 and I scored it only because I was willing to jump as soon as I saw the listing. The seller said he had four or five people interested in it.
