Model E discontinued
Re: Model E discontinued
It makes perfectly good sense to me, and I’m glad they’ve gone this way. It makes little sense to have both models when the biggest difference is only height. So you can get the D or the taller D, and eliminate the need for an E entirely. Easier for manufacturing, stocking, and sales on their end, and easier for the consumer (especially first timers). It’s always been called a rowerg as far as I recall, though the public refers to them by model, and the later bike and ski ergs took their cue from the rowing ergometer, at least here.
All good on my end, and gives my wife and I the option to just use a factory mod if height becomes a problem as we age. Good move on the part of Concept2!

It's probably only me, but I wished they had continued to "Model F" instead of the blander, generic "RowErg"!

Re: Model E discontinued
Anyone who can beg, borrow, steal, or run up a couple plywood boxes/stools can put their model D up on blocks at which time it A: gets a nosebleed? or B: becomes a model E?
Never cared much for the stationary arm on the E. Rationalization of production and inventory makes sense. “Luxe” market options are frequently about nothing much except the shade of lipstick for the pig.

Makes you wonder if they'll bother to differentiate between models when they inevitably upgrade the RowErg x years from now. Simplest thing is probably to go to a numbering scheme - RowErg Model 101, 102, etc.
Re: Model E discontinued
or even a letter scheme like .... RowErg model F, G, ...
Re: Model E discontinued
Forgot to add...
The Model D is, by a landslide, the most popular and competition recognized rower in the history of rowing. Why in the world would anyone endanger that status? This is what should have been done all along, and hats off to them for seeing it! Smart company.

I agree, and as a reply in this thread noted, in the legs-only retrofit package should be available in May for $180 a set. Add tax and shipping, this will be a costly 6 inches of height.Soulsurfer wrote: ↑February 16th, 2021, 11:36 pmI would love to order me a set of the taller legs. Hopefully they will turn up in the parts list.
I see from the photos though that these are not the standard model D legs with more length, but instead seem more robust overall; the front in particular looks stout compared to even the model E itself, maybe. Wasn’t there a shear force issue in early E legs and this is the necessary compensation for it? Was the shearing at the machine end or the foot? And most key, if one were to simply elevate their static model D on, say, cinderblocks to get the 6 inches, there would be no additional shear force on the legs compared with floor erging, right? Thanks.
Here’s a photo from the current C2 page of leg difference.

You made me chuckle over the "Add tax and shipping, this will be a costly 6 inches of height. " . Reminded me of a Mae West line/joke, for those who recall this wildly funny burlesque actress when she was quoted as saying to a cowboy guy - "Never mind the six feet, let's talk about the six inches".StevenWayne wrote: ↑March 10th, 2021, 5:01 pmI agree, and as a reply in this thread noted, in the legs-only retrofit package should be available in May for $180 a set. In the end, it's only money I will not spend when I'm gone. May as well enjoy it while I can.

Re: Model E discontinued
That’s a great quote, Soul.
Apologies if that seemed like I was suggesting that you don’t buy the expensive 6 inches...I was more making a statement for myself.
I’d love to try a tall “E” style someday.

Surprised that the Hays office left that line in the movie!Soulsurfer wrote: ↑March 11th, 2021, 10:03 am

Please, please! No need to apologize (are you Canadian like me?). Your point was 100% valid. AND, you gave me a chuckle.StevenWayne wrote: ↑March 11th, 2021, 10:28 pmThat’s a great quote, Soul.
