PM4 and Scosche Rhythm+ via ANT+

Post by brigman » January 7th, 2021, 4:02 am

I recently purchased a Scosche Rhythm+ device (link) to use in place of a HRM belt on my Concept2 model E with PM4. The https://thisisant.com/directory lists both devices as being compatible with each other (for the purposes of heart rate monitoring) yet I cannot get my PM4 to see the Rhythm+; the PM4 just says "No belt found."

My old Samsung tablet is also ANT+ compatible so I was sure to test the Rhythm+ against that and, aside from my heart rate briefly showing 44bpm (!), it seemed fine.

The ANT+ connect screen of the PM4 just lists 'No belt found.' It used to work fine with a Suunto HRM belt. Any assistance appreciated.

Hej brigman,
I do have exactly the same problem. The reason is, that the PM4 isnt able to handle the extended serial numbers of newer devices.
If the serial number of your PM4 is larger than 310100000 you can make a firmware update to solve it. https://www.concept2.com/service/monitors/pm4/firmware
For my self, I have made a workaroud. An ANT+ dongle from my garmin fitnestracker, pluged into the PC on which RowPro is running. And a small selfmade software, receiving the data from the Rythm+ and resend them with shortend serialnumber to the PM4 via the dongle.
I already tried a hardware solution, a small PCB as translator between Rhythm+ and PM4, hidden behind ore in the PM4, but it stucks in time at my programming skils. This solution could also work with BL HR Monitors.
