Enjoy Model D except for monitor
Enjoy Model D except for monitor
We got a new from the factory Model D rower in November. Great machine, well worth the 11 week wait. My only issue is with the PM5 monitor that comes with it. The device certainly has lots of features, but these are not all easily accessible. My chief issue is with the Bluetooth connectivity, which isn’t straightforward at all when several users are attempting to trade off using the machine. Can anyone give a reference to a good online instruction article or video on the PM5?

Welcome !
Have people remember to stop the ergdata application when done so the PM5 only has one connection possibility.
It could be that when your PM5 starts every phone with ergdata active is trying to connect at the same time. Stopping ergdata also help keep people's log entries straight, so you don't end up with your kids kilometers.
I also actively stop the PM5 when I'm done rowing by pressing the MENU button 4 times in a row. not sure if this is needed ... in theory the PM5 times out and shuts off -- but if it is connected to ergdata it will stay on.

Some of the online videos have a step by step “push this button this many times” type of explanation with their rowing videos. Shane Farmer at Dark Horse Rowing on YouTube does this, and it was helpful in my learning to program workouts. Here is an example beginning workout with that method:

Re: Enjoy Model D except for monitor
You just need to get familiar with using the PM5, its a great monitor.
Yes its more than what many people need, that's why I'm still fixing up the old PM2 monitors but that said most people just sit down and start pulling the handle and use the "Just Row" function on the PM3, PM4 and PM5 anyway.
For the very few people like me who want to run an wireless ANT+ heartrate strap, ErgData via Bluetooth and RowPro via USB all at the same time, the PM5 is the only option.
