Ah, those holes were put in the flywheel to balance and correct the moment of inertia of the flywheel. Nothing to do with the sensor. Seeing this I am surprised there is no sign of the magnets or the holes for the magnets. Typically we received the flywheels from the die casting company with the magnet holes already drilled, and the magnets would be pressed in before balancing.

Weird stuff indeed. You still think it is not a C2 machine, correct? But the flywheel may originate from C2...anyhow, since I can't find these magnets I have to figure out some other way to measure. It seems people are using bicycle computers and even Raspberry PI computers to estimate SPM and distance. Seems I have a new hobby :-)

Looking closer at the flywheel, the surface texture looks rough, which might mean it's a sand casting, rather than a die cast part that C2 used. So it's possible that the flywheel is also not a C2 part. That would explain the absence of the magnets.
