Model A spoke replacement

Post by bcjm » August 1st, 2020, 1:57 pm

I bought a model A recently that has a broken spoke. I would like to fix it. There is a metal ring outside the wheel that is secured by an allen bolt. Can the metal ring be removed easily? I like to get some information before I take it apart.

Given how few Model As are out there still up and running, I think you're much more likely to get a useful response directly from C2.

Their contact info is here:

There are still Model As out there in use! The wheel weight is butt welded and bolted in place so removal is not recommended. If the spoke nipple is in good shape just reuse it with a new spoke. If the nipple is not ok then it's likely the flywheel will run fine with a missing spoke as long as there's not a lot of vibration. JonW
