Interpret online log graphs

Post by mspath » June 17th, 2020, 2:24 pm

Hey Folks:
New model D erg owner here - used to put them together in the 80s for Northeastern Huskies but decided to invest in my own.
I like the connection to the online logbook but I'm wondering how to interpret and use the strokes per minute vs. the pace chart. They seem to track but I noticed on a really log workout today, a couple pieces showed a different pattern. Is pace showing how much I'm moving "the boat".

Thanks for any advice.

Mike

If work per stroke is maintained constant stroke to stroke and stroke rate Is increased or decreased, pace curve mimics rate curve simply because rate is the only variable.

If both work per stroke (amplitude) and rate (frequency) are variable, the curves will not (typically) track together. Allan Olesen will be along soon to set us both straight but hey what, devil loves a coward right? :(
