Other Grips

Hello,
i have been using the rowing machine (model D/PM5) since early 2019 mainly for fitness and endurance with the straight standard grips. Are there any other grips for the machine? As an example I have attached a link to a picture. I just have no idea how you could mount such handles on the rowing machine without changing anything on the original. With such handles one could address other muscles in the upper body area.
It would be nice if someone could give me a hint!

Welcome to the forum. :)

Keep in mind that the rower is primarily a cardio machine, not a resistance or weight machine. It's a great tool to work your cardiovascular system, but isn't really intended to bulk up your muscles, which may be where you're thinking of going.

If you want to do that more effectively, I'd suggest a basic bench setup, with a bar & weights and some dumbbells.

According to the blurb it's too heavy (2kg) and too narrow (19 cm?). Maybe it's for vertical pulls only.

I think handle width = shoulder width and negative weight (given by the chain tension) are both essential.

See this handle littering the floor around multi-station, cable/weight stack machines. It attaches to the cable by carabiner or snap shackle. Any welding fabricator or hobbyist should be able to get out an attachment combining snap shackle with a flat plate that bolts to the u-bolt connecting the stock handle. Or lash the carabiner @ center on the stock handle?

As to the purpose and efficacy of proposed modification, I have no dog in the fight. (Weight stack machines are readily and cheaply available and the better choice if you have the luxury of space for a lot of stationary exercise equipment.).

I'm glad you asked.
At age 63 my old model B and me make quite a pair.
We've travelled many meters together over the last nearly 30 years.
For the last 3 years or more I have placed a pair of Fat Gripz on my rowing handle.
Obviously it makes the handle "larger". They fit snugly & give my arms/forearms/grip a good go.
I row for fun & fitness & I really enjoy the difference they make.
This old timer wouldn't go on his 30 minute row twice a week without them.
