I've a C-PM3 since about 2002 which always showed spikes and a scattered force curve. By disconnecting laptop and its power supply I could control the number of spikes: no connections, few spikes.
January 2019 and about time too, switched to a PM5 using the existing PM3 sensor (2-wire I believe). Force curve and barchart dead smooth, not a spike in sight. I also notice some small changes in how PM5 behaves (better) under transient conditions, with respect to PM3.
Today connected the belt (bt and ant+) to both ergdata and the PM5.
No spikes, both work fine, ergdata only needed about 30 strokes warmup to show a reading, PM5 OK after warm-up and some buttons pressed before restarting (no USB stick) as expected. I noticed that on PM5 with the belt connected and a reading, the barchart shows HR, which I didn't know. Useful, can see sudden death acoming. With no belt it shows Watts.
