First forgive me if this has been asked a thousand times
New to rowing been doing approx 6k four times a week in the Gym i have just joined. Up to now I have been using the ErgData app on my Iphone all works ok along with a garmin heart rate strap of my running watch, but I have just found the LiveRowing app which I can get to connect ok to PM5
What I don't understand is the pace boat I can alter the pace time on it and when you row the screen turns diffrent colours RED,Yellow Green presumably this is telling you if you are within range of the pace you have set, my question is are you ment to have the pace boat a head of you? or what as I always seem to be in the red and yellow zones even if I'm level with it or slightly overtake it. I have also never figured out how to use the pace boat on the PM5 either.
Thanks Paul

Re: Liverowing Pace boat
To use the pace boat on the PM5 select New Workout and then the Workout type you want; the last line then lets you input a pace or power for the other crew. You then do whatever you like: stay with them, blast off or start easy and wind it up, as shown on the specific screen.
Differing from a real crew, the PM paceboat does not fade, so keep them slow, otherwise you'll blow up trying to stay with them.
This function is one of the objective power control systems available on the PM; we can also use pace, finish time or Watts. Subjective controls are HR, sweat, talk and so on, all useful too at some stage.

LiveRowing changes the color of the water based on your heart rate. I don't know the lower thresholds but I know it turns red when you exceed (220-age)*0.8 beats/min. You can also tap on the SPM # on the screen to switch to heart rate.
