PM5 ErgData and multiple users

Post by Arower » August 19th, 2018, 1:48 am

Upgraded our 2nd hand Model D PM3 to a new Model D PM5 yesterday, loving the backlight.

Both my wife and I use the rower and ErgData. How do we setup our own profile so my workouts go to my phone and my wife's workouts go to her phone? Currently all workouts go to ErgData. We use the just row setting if that makes a difference.

You pair the phone with the PM5 so your question doesn't make sense. Workouts stored in PM5 memory aren't used or logged as everything is done on the phone.

Once paired with the 2 phones, Will the pm5 automatically connect to either phone depending on who is rowing?

To pair you need the BTLE function available on the PM5 and Ergdata running on the phone (with BT enabled). If both of those things aren't active then nothing happens.

Same issue. Did you resolve it? My wife and I both use our model D with PM5. Her workouts are getting recorded in my ErgData because I am nearby in the house when she rows. I don’t have the ERGData app open though when she rows. I don’t think she is using ErgData every time - maybe that would make a difference? Does Pm5 pair with just one ErgData at a time? Perhaps the one that is closer to the PM5? I don’t want to have to manually turn the connection on and off every time... that would be annoying!

Any suggestions to solve the problem would be appreciated.

The PM5 has a menu option to disable BTLE, get your wife to use that if she isn't pairing her phone with the PM5.

If she pairs her ErgData with the pm5 when she rows will that also solve the problem?

Should solve it as the PM5 can only pair with one phone at a time.

The only thing to keep in mind is that sometimes it may pick up a prior row that was not yours. Happened to me a couple times at a gym. I did not spend enough time to figure out why. My best guess is that it was dependent on how long ago the prior row happened. I just deleted the entries in ErgData before syncing and all was fine.
